Chinese to invest in new metro line in Moscow
Published: Fri, 2014-06-13 14:55Moscow metro plans to purchase up to 104 trains during the period of 2014-2017, according to an official report of the Moscow Department of Transport and the development of road transport infrastructure.
It is planned that the majority of trains will be supplied by local Metrovagonmash, one of Russia’s largest producers of rail cars.
The supplies will take place as part of the lifecycle contract.
At the same time, according to an official spokerperson of the department, there is a possibilty that during the next several years up to USD$2 billion will be invested in the expansion of Moscow metro by a group of Chinese investors.
As part of the plans, the investors may provide funds for the building of a new metro line in New Moscow district of Moscow.
