China Railway commissioned the first section of Kunming-Singapore line

The first 150-km of the Kunming-Singapore rail line, one of Asia’s longest rail lines, which will connect China with Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore, have been officially commissioned.
According to the China Railway Corporation, currently the company focuses on building of another 650 km of the new line. It is planned that the launch of the new line will reduce the travel time between China and Singapore to only 10 hours.
According to plans, the construction of the entire railway will be divided into four stages, among which are Kunming - Vientiane, Vientiane - Bangkok, Bangkok - Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur - Singapore. The new rail line will be finally commissioned by 2020.
