Russias longest private railway line approved

The Russian government has approved building of the Kyzyl-Kuragino railway line, Russia’s longest railway line, which will be the country’s largest private infrastructure project.
The new railway line is expected to link coking coal fields of Tuva with the country’s railway network and export terminals in the Far East.
The first phase of the new rail line will have a capacity of 15 million tons of cargo, with the possibilty of expansion up to 27 million tons.
The project is implemented by the Russian billionaire Ruslan Baisarov, according to which, the construction of the railway line will create 15,000 jobs, and bring tax revenues from the project in the volume of 14 billion rubles annually.
This will be done through private investment with state support, "- said Baisarov during his recent meeting with Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The railway line will be passed through three mountain ranges. The project also involves building of eight tunnels and 127 bridges, the height of some of which towers will be 90 meters. Part of the equipment and specialists is expected to be attracted after the completion of construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi.
