Siemens has not plans to cut Russian projects
German Siemens, together with Russian Sinara, will continue the production of locomotives for RZD at the capacities of their Russian joint venture, despite a recent freeze of supplies to RZD, according to an official representative of the venture.
According to Dietrich Meller, president of Siemens in Russia and the CIS states, despite the current complex situation, the company believes that this will be a temporary phenomenon.
He has also added that the annual production plan of the company has not changed.
According to Moeller, the supply of Lastochka continues, while the company plans to discuss measures, aimed at optimizing of costs. This is due to the company’s problems in Russia in 2014, caused by the beginning of economic crisis in the country and devaluation of national currency – ruble.
