Further sanctions’ extension will prevent RZD’s foreign expansion
Published: Mon, 2015-03-30 15:37A possible extension of anti-Russian sanctions by Western countries will prevent further expansion of national railway carrier RZD to abroad, according to recent statements of Vladimir Yakunin, head of the company.
Yakunin, however, has also added that the Russian projects of the company will not be impacted as their funding takes place in rubles.
Vladimir Yakunin comments:
«RZD has a balanced portfolio of loans. The majority of our long-term borrowings are in foreign currency, while short-term loans in rubles. We believe that the company has more stable position than the majority of it rivals and partners in Russia».
According to Yakunin, RZD still plans to acquire foreign assets, however this will not be in France, as reported by some Russian and foreign media.
