RZD to invest $1 billion in purchase of new locomotives

RZD to purchase up to 500 new locomotives this year
Russian RZD to receive 60.2 billion rubles (US$1 billion) from the National Welfare Fund (NWF), Russia's leading sovereign wealth fund, for the purchase of new locomotives in 2015, according to Maxim Sokolov, Russia’s Transport Minister.
The funds will be allocated for the purchase of 254 new electric locomotives and 230 diesel locomotives, of which 351 locomotives will be purchased from ZAO Transmashholding, while 133 from the local Sinara - Transport Machines.
