PESA Bydgoszcz expands rolling stock plant, output capacity

The manufacturer has completed a project worth about PLN 80 million ($21 million), under which a production hall with a total floorspace of some 4,000 square metres was added to its plant in Bydgoszcz. The move will enable PESA to increase the plant’s workforce.
The latest investment was co-financed by funds obtained by PESA from the European Union, reports local business news site Terenyinwestycyjne.info. The EU provided about PLN 40 million (US$10.5 million) for the project, which represented 50% of the total investment.
Over the next two months, trial production is to be launched at the new production hall, according to the manufacturer.
Further investments at the factory in Bydgoszcz are to follow. In the upcoming years, PESA is aiming to add two new production halls to the facility.
Headquartered in Bydgoszcz, in Poland’s western part, PESA is operated by an aggregate workforce of 3,500 employees. The manufacturer’s product range includes diesel multiple units (DMUs), electric multiple units (EMUs), locomotives and trams.
