New rails’ production in Russia
Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant (which is part of Evraz), plans to invest up to US$300 million in the establishment of rails’ production this year, despite unfavourable business environment in Russia and lack of orders, according to Alexey Kushnarev, managing director of the plant.
According to him, this year the volume of production is expected to reach 200,000 tonnes, although this volume will significantly decline during the next several years.
In the long-term, the company has not ruled out the possibility of the entire suspension of rails’ production in Russia.
