France’s Angers eyes €245M tram project
Published: Mon, 2015-04-20 15:00France’s Angers municipality is planning to allocate €245 million to set up its second tram line. The initial investment proposal was recently approved by the municipal council.
The draft time schedule for the project was approved by the councilors of the Angers Loire Métropole. This said, local authorities are yet to take a final decision regarding the planned investment by the end of spring 2016, reports local news site Busetcar.com.
The designed B line is to be fitted with a total length of some 9.9 km, extending Belle-Beille, in the municipality’s western part, and Monplaisir, located in its eastern part.
Meanwhile, local sources say that the municipality’s continuing financial woes could put the development of the tram project in jeopardy.
Under the plan, construction works on the project are to be launched in late 2016, and the tram line is to be put into service in late 2019, according to the French municipality.
The municipality's existing tram line A is fitted with a total length of some 12 km, and it has 25 stations, extending between the stations of Avrille-Ardenne and Angers-Roseraie.
