RZD to launch trains with two-story cargo container platforms on Trans-Siberian rail line

Russian RZD is considering the launch trains with two-story cargo container platforms on the Trans-Siberian rail line, one of Russia’s longest and most important rail lines, according to recent statements of Vyacheslav Rybkin, head of RZD’s Directorate of East Transportations.
According to him, the company has already completed tests of such plarform in the European part of Russia.
According to Rybkin, the launch of double-decker container trains will allow to significantly increase cargo turnover of Trans-Siberian rail line, which will allow to start massive supplies of Russian mineral resources to China and countries of Asia-Pacific.
