The share of production of innovative rail cars in Russia remains small, according to Sergei Kaletin, chairman of the Russian Union of Producers of Railway Technics.
According to him, of 50,000 cars produced in Russia in 2014, the number of innovative cars was only 15,000 units.
Kaletin has also added that Russia currently experiences a shortage of innovative tanks for transportation of oil and petrol products, gas or acids, while the majority of Russian rail fleet accounted for outdated rail cars.
According to Kaletin, full-scale production of new rail cars should be based on the new state program, which should be designed by the government already during the next several months.
