New railway bridge via Amur River will link Russia and China

The Russian government has officially started building of a new railway bridge via the Amur River that will link Russia and China. The bridge will link the Russian city of Nizhneleninskoye with the Chinese Tongjiang, while the agreement of the implementation of the project was signed as far back as on 20 June 2013.
During the the first phase of the project the bridge will have the capacity of 5.2 million tonnes of cargo per year, while during the second stage it will be increased up to 21 million tonnes.
Building of the bridge will ensure stable exports of iron ore, coal, fertilizers, forest products and other goods from Russia to China. The cost of the project is 20 billion rubles (US$400 million).
