At the same they time annulled all previous contracts with the private companies involved, which were left without compensation. The information comes from the State's official publication.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has carried out nationalizations earlier in several sectors where privatization occurred around the 1990s, like water, oil, electricity, gas and air.
Nationalization of the railways began in the past. Following a train disaster in 2012, that claimed 51 lives, government nationalized a line in the Buenos Aires area.
Transport minister Florencio Randazzo said that the state will not pay anything to companies, while there are no demands of any compensation. The state can operate rail traffic more efficiently than private companies; believe Randazzo, who is expected to run in the next presidential election in October.
