Collaborative project between Moldova, Ukraine and Romania
The ministries of transport of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania are considering implementing a project for the building of a new Kiev – Chișinău - Bucharest high-speed railway rail line.
According to the partners, implementation of the project will allow to improve transport links between the three countries. In the case of Moldova, building of the new rail line will allow the country to reduce the overall deterioration of its railway network, limiting the speed of traffic. At the same time in the case of Romania, this initiative is part of the plans for the construction of a high-speed Bucharest - Iasi high-speed rail line (by displaying it on the border with Moldova).
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of building of 1 km of the new road is US$20 million.
