Ukranian government plans to raise tariffs for passengers
Published: Wed, 2015-02-11 14:24The Ukrainian government plans to raise tariffs for passenger railway transportations by 1.2 times already in the first half of the current year, according to state press-service. This has already been approved by prime-minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatshenuk.
Last year railway fares in Ukraine were increased by two times. It was planned that this will enable Ukranian Railways, Ukraine’s leading railway operator to receive an additional revenue in the amount of US$15 million, however, due to devaluation of local currency – hryvna, these plans were never implemented.
Last year net loss of Ukranian Railways in the segment of passenger railway transportations reached more than $490 million.
