Korean prosecutors allege that Bombardier offered gifts and trips to Canada for politicians, who decided to choose Bombardier’s technology for an elevated train in the city of Yongin.
According to the Korean investigation, Bombardier paid the travel to Canada for 37 individuals, eighteen of which were members of the City Council of Yongin.
According to CBC News, the train is expected to cost South Korean taxpayers $3.5 billion over the next 30 years, including maintenance.
The company was not charged because the prosecution had expired deadlines.
