Dmitry Medvedev approved four investment projects of RZD this year
Published: Fri, 2015-01-30 13:09Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has officially approved implementation of four investment projects of RZD this year, according to press service of the Russian government.
Among these projects are the development of rail infrastructure of the Eastern part of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, purchase of new traction rolling stock, as well as building of the railway approaches to the ports of the North-West of Russia and the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin.
According to Medvedev’s order, the Russian Ministry of Transport must send a comprehensive study of these investment projects to the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Finance within the next two months.
In the case of eastern part of the BAM, total amount of funds that will be invested in its development in 2015 should reach 7.5 billion rubles. Succesfull implementation of the project will allow to increase cargo capacity of the rail line up to 32.6 million tonnes of cargo per year by 2018.
In the case of ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin, according to state plans, by 2020 their freight capacity will be increased up to 70.8 million tons.
At the same time about 60.2 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund will be spent on the purchase of traction rolling stock. In 2015 467 new locomotives will be purchased, while during the period of 2015- 2017 this figure will reach1508 locomotives.
