Railway communication between Ukraine and Russia declined by 60% in 2014
Published: Mon, 2015-02-16 15:45Railway communication between Ukraine and Russia in 2014 declined by 60% compared to 2013, to 2 million passengers, according to data of the Ukranian national railway operator Ukranian Railways.
At the same passenger rail traffic between Russia and Crimea in 2014 declined by about 95%, compared to 2013 and amounted to only 80,000 passengers, which is the lowest figure in the modern history of Russia and Ukraine.
This year railway connection between the two countries practically stopped. In the case of RZD, the company has only one train, which passes through Ukraine on the Moscow – Chisinau route. At the same time in the case of Ukranian Railways, railway communication with Russia is carried out only in two directions, and in particular to Moscow and St. Petersburg from such cities as Kiev, Odessa and Lviv.
