New Kiev – Bucharest high-speed railway planned
Published: Wed, 2015-02-18 13:45The project for the building of a new high-speed railway rail line between Kiev and Bucharest, and via Moldavian capital Chisinau, was positively assessed both by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Romania, Maria Magdalena Gregory and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oksana Reiter.
At the moment the following capital cities are served from Chisinau: Bucharest, Kiev, Moscow (all daily) & Minsk (Tue, Fri, Sun) & Warsaw (Mon, Wed, Fri). Daily trains also run to St. Petersburg and Odessa
The Romanian and Ukrainian ministries agreed to continue discussions on the issue during the Subsequent meetings to establish concrete steps to be taken by the three countries that projects are viable.
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of building of 1 km of the new rail road is US$20 million.
