Preliminary agreement was reached during a recent visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Egypt
Transmashholding (TMH), the largest manufacturer of passenger rail cars and locomotives in Russia, is in talks with the Egyptian National Railways for the supply of 700 passenger rail cars this year, according to an official representative of Transmashholding.
Other details of the project were not disclosed. Preliminary agreement was reached during a recent visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Egypt.
So far, the majority of production of TMH has been supplied to the domestic market.
During the period of 2012-2013 TMH exported only 5% of production - to the CIS countries, Europe and Central Asia, while 95% of supplies accounted for RZD and Moscow Metro. In 2013 TMH signed a contract with the Serbian Railways about the supply of 27 diesel trains (US$100 million) for the company’s needs.
