Crossrail boosting the municipalities already
Published: Thu, 2014-12-04 11:00British rail experts believe that Berkhamsted will gain extra prestige if the proposed Hertfordshire extension to Crossrail goes ahead.
The existing plan will link Reading in Berkshire to Shenfield in Essex and in August said Patrick McLoughlin, British Transport Secretary, as he announced a Hertfordshire branch to alleviate pressure on Euston ahead of the arrival of HS2.
Crossrail has already spread hope value right through the center of London. Latest figures from eMoov show that real estate prices along the line have risen on average by 61 per cent since 2004, and a further rise of 39 per cent is expected by 2020.
People who have apartments to sell or rent out in Berkhamsted or Exeter are waiting for the big money. Crossrail makes the trips to the London city much shorter.
The impact on Berkhamsted is yet to be felt, but Yolande Rugg, chief executive of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, has welcomed it as a “catalyst to drive economic growth”.
Crossrail reduces commuting times with better and more frequent trains plus a direct link to the West End and to Heathrow airport, which for many Essex residents will be easier and faster to get to than Stansted.
