Crimean Railways considers massive lay-offs
Published: Fri, 2014-12-05 10:07Up to 2,100 workers of Crimean Railways may be cut already by the end of the current year, due to complex financial situation in Crimea and financial problems of the Crimean Railways, according to an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Transport.
This happens mainly due to the decline of rail cargo traffic on the Crimean Railways, which is estimated at about 40%, compared to the same period of last year.
According to an official representative of the Crimean Railways, at present revenue, generated from freight traffic, do not even allow to maintain infrastructure of the railway.
There is a possibility that part of cut workers could find employment in Russian RZD and Federal Passenger Company, the company, which provides long-distance passenger train transportation services in Russia.
