Croatia’s Đuro Đaković obtains freight rail cars order from Ermewa
Published: Tue, 2015-01-27 08:00Croatian manufacturer Đuro Đaković has been awarded a HRK 61 million ($10 million) contract to supply new freight rail cars to Ermewa, one of the leading players in the European wagon rental market.
The Croatian producer will supply Falns 64 rail cars to the Geneva-based firm. The four-axle cars can handle up to 70 tonnes of bulk cargo, Đuro Đaković said in a statement. Fully loaded rail cars are enabled to travel at a speed of over 100 km/h.
Under the plan, the new rolling stock is to be delivered to Ermewa in the second and third quarter of 2016, according to the Croatian manufacturer. The latest procurement is to be carried out by the group's subsidiary Đuro Đaković Specijalna Vozila d.d.
Set up in 1991, Đuro Đaković supplies cargo wagons fitted for transport of different types of goods. The company’s product range includes the Eamos, Eanos, Falns, Faccns, Habbinss, Hbis, Lgns, Rils, Sgnss, Shimms, Tadnss, Tamns and Uacns rail cars, according to data released by Đuro Đaković.
Besides its production for the country’s state-run Croatian Railways (HŽ), as much as 80% of Đuro Đaković’s output is intended for a number of Western European markets. These include Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. The Croatian state is the company's main shareholder, with a stake of 50.21% in Đuro Đaković.
Ermewa says it is one of the European leaders in the industrial wagon rental, operating and maintenance market. The company operates a rolling stock fleet which consists of more than 60,000 units.
