Estonian rail cargo transport dropped in 2014
Published: Tue, 2015-01-27 12:40Cargo transport volume at the Eesti Raudtee (Estonian Railways Co) infrastructure plunged by nearly a quarter in 2014.
In 2014, 19.22 million tons of cargo was transported on Eesti Raudtee infrastructure. The year-on-year fall was 21 %. The December transport volume was 1.99 million tons, a fall of 11.9 % in a year.
The amount of goods from Russia was the biggest, 14.4 million tons, and a fall by 30 % in a year. Cargo volumes from Latvia and Kazakhstan grew.
9.83 million tons of oil and oil products was transported in 2014, by 35 % less than in 2013.
Transit cargo transport fell by 25 % and formed 14.08 million tons.
Container transport totaled 72,000 TEU in 2014, by 16 % more than in 2013.
EVR Cargo transport volume in 2014 was 15.77 million tons, a slight fall from 2013. The company AS E.R.S. transported 3.46 million tons of goods, and a fall by 59 %.
