Indian railways stay in state hand
Published: Fri, 2015-01-23 09:00On 17 of January the Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley told Central Trade Unions that the government has no intention of privatizing the Railways in India.
He said further that the focus of the Narendra Modi-led government is to create more jobs and employment opportunities, besides protecting existing jobs and fostering and providing a better environment for ease of living for the common man.
Jaitley made these remarks during his Pre-Budget Consultative Meeting with the representatives of Trade Union Groups.
Besides, they also asked regularization of contract labor after certain time, guaranteeing strict compliance of labor laws by multinational corporations (MNCs), prior consultation with trade unions before initiating amendment of any laws affecting directly or indirectly the interests of labor force, and increase in minimum wages based on the decision of the Raptakos Judgment of the Supreme Court.
