Indian Railways launches its first CNG train

Indian Railways officially launched its first CNG train on 13 January 2015. The Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhu, flagged off the new train from Rewari in the northern state of Haryana.
The new train comprises two power cars with Cummins supplied CNG Conversion kits and six car coaches, The Economic Times reported. The coaches are manufactured by Integral Coach Factory at Chennai.
The initiative to introduce CNG trains primarily aims at reducing the diesel consumption.
