Alstom receives new contract from Egypt’s ENR
Published: Tue, 2015-01-20 15:42Alstom has received a new contract from Egyptian National Railways to supply signalling equipment for the 240 km long Beni Suef-Asyut line in Egypt.
“We are pleased to have been awarded this major project which will significantly increase traffic on the line while ensuring higher system availability and greater safety. Alstom has been supporting the country’s railway projects for 30 years, including the Cairo metro, and aims to accompany the country for more projects to come,” said, Gian-Luca Erbacci, Senior Vice President, Alstom Transport Middle East and Africa.
The scope of the supply comprises Smartlock solution, new Electronic Interlocking System (EIS), to replace the existing electromechanical system, as well as a trackside equipment, a power supply and a telecommunication system.
The contract worth EUR 100 million also includes maintenance for five years. Alstom will initiate the deliveries in 2016 and the system is scheduled to start operations by January 2019.
