Germany to provide materials for recovery of Ukranian railway infrastructure
Published: Tue, 2014-11-18 16:33Germany plans to start deliveries of materials and technology, including railways for the recovery of the damaged infrastructure of the eastern Ukraine during the next several weeks, according to an official spokerperson of the German government.
It is planned that total value of planned supplies will be equivalent to 500 million euros.
According to Ukrainian government, in addition to this, several EU banks have already provided guarantees for the provision of loans to Ukraine, which will be also used in the recovery and modernization of the country’s railway infrastructure.
According to data of the Ukranian Ministry of Infrastructure, total losses from the destruction of the Ukranian transport infrastructure as a result of the military conflict are estimated at 3 billion hryvnia (US$ 230 million).
At the same time the recovery of the Ukranian railway infrastructure will require about 850 million hryvnia (US$65 million).
