Ukrainian Railways continues to bear losses this year
Published: Tue, 2014-11-25 09:00Ukrzaliznytsya, Ukraine’s national railway operator, posted significant losses in the segment of passenger railway transportations for the 10 months of the current year, according to the company.
In the 10 months 2014 the company’s net loss in this segment amounted to 6.4 billion hryvnia (about US$460).
One of the major reasons of losses is a decline in passenger traffic by 9.1% to 371.9 million people.
At the same time for the first half of the current year Ukrzaliznytsya’s revenue in the segment of passenger railway transportations declined from US$400 million in 2013 to US$200 million this year.
