England and Ireland to build new underwater railway tunnel
Published: Thu, 2014-11-20 09:48A new underwater railway tunnel will soon connect England and Ireland, according to some UK media reports. It is planned that the new tunnel will be built under the Irish Sea and connects two countries. Total cost of the project is estimated at GBP15 billion.
Building of the new tunnel will allow to reduce travel time between Ireland and England to up to two hours. There is also a possibility that the new rail line can be also extended up to continental Europe.
It is planned that the tunnel will be designed for automatically controlled trains, which are similar to already used in Singapore and Hong Kong.
At the same the new project has already sparked criticizm in the UK, due to its high cost.
