Moscow-Beijing high-speed railway line on track
Published: Mon, 2014-11-24 15:10Building of a new high-speed railway line between Moscow and Beijing only on the territory of Russia will require 2.5-2.8 trillion rubles (US$60 billion), according to estimates of Alexander Misharin, vice-president of RZD.
The new railway line will reduce travel time between Moscow and Beijing to only 30 years, compared to the current than five days, Misharin said.
According to RZD, building of the new transport network will be comparable with the construction of the Suez Canal in terms of scale and significance. According to Misharin, the construction will take eight to ten years. The length of the line will be 7800-8000 km.
He has also added that some leading Chinese banks and companies have already expressed their interest in the project.
