Alstom to supply a metro system to Guadalajara, Mexico

Metropolis trains will serve the metro line
Alstom, in association with CPVM, a company from OHL group, has been awarded a contract by the Secretariat of Communications and Transport of Mexico to supply a full system for Line 3 of Guadalajara metro.
The line is 20 km long and will run through Zapopan, Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque municipalities in the State of Jalisco. It will provide fast, comfortable and safe transportation to 233,000 passengers daily.
Alstom will supply 18 Metropolis trains, the communication systems, the high-voltage and traction substations, the traffic control systems based on Urbalis 400, Alstom’s CBTC [3] system. Widely proven and constantly upgraded, Urbalis represents the ideal CBTC solution for urban transit operators aiming to maximise performance and capacity and who require traditional interlocking systems for operational needs.
“This commercial success, after the one in Panama, confirms Alstom ability in delivering metro systems and develops Alstom’s strong footprint in Latin America”, declared Michel Boccaccio, Senior Vice President Alstom Transport Latin America.
Alstom’s Metropolis serves many of the great global cities including Panama, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Amsterdam with more than 10 years of operational experience. More than 4000 Metropolis cars have been sold worldwide.
According to Alsotm, Metropolis for Guadalajara has reached the highest standards in the environmental field. The energy consumption is reduced thanks to the train’s light weight, the optimisation of the traction performance and the energy recovery.
