South Korean investors may build railway line in North Korea
Published: Wed, 2014-11-12 15:12A consortium of South Korean companies, among which are POSCO, Korail and Hyundai Merchant Marine, are considering participating in the project for the building of a railway line in North Korea, which is expected to be implemented together with Russian RZD and local companies.
Building of the railway line is very important, as will allow to create conditions for the resumption of railway communications on the Korean Peninsula with the access to the Trans-Siberian Railway.
An agreement for the building of a railway line in North Korea was signed in Moscow about a year ago between Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of South Korea, Park Geun-Hye and representatives of the North Korean government.
According to Alexander Saltanov, vice-president of RZD, currently the sides are conducting due diligence of the project.
