Russia to invest $700 million in development of Crimean railway infrastructure
Published: Fri, 2015-01-02 14:05Up to 108 billion rubles (US$3 billion) will be invested in the development of the transport system of Crimea by 2017, according to an official statement of the Crimean Council of Ministers.
It is planned that of these funds about 28.7 billion rubles (US$700 million) will be invested in the modernization and further building of the Crimean railway infrastructure.
At the same another 8.3 billion rubles will be invested in the building of rail approaches to the Crimea from Russia, and in particular building of the bridge via the Kerch strait.
The operational length of the Crimean main railway lines is 773 km, of which 691.3 km are electrified.
