Indian Railways keen on public safety
Published: Fri, 2014-12-19 16:27In a bid to control accidents at Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs), Indian Railways is planning to introduce modern technology for sending Automatic alert messages to road users at unmanned level crossings.
Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has asked the Railway Board to explore the use of Geo-spatial technologies. The Geo-spatial technologies may include technologies which combine Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing.
Following the Railway Minister’s direction, a high level meeting was held at Rail Bhawan on 17 December 2014.
