New postal-baggage car designed by Tver Carriage Works

Tver Carriage Works, one of Russia’s largest producers of rolling stock, which is part of Transmashholding, has officially presented a new postal-baggage car, produced from domestic materials and components.
It is reported that the project is implemented in cooperation with Russian Post, a national postal operator of Russia.
The new postal-baggage car has high technical specifications. It can run both in the desert, and in the Far North conditions and reach speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour.
The new model is equipped with a monitoring system that can monitor simultaneously the entire composition (10 cars). The lifetime of the car - 40 years, while maintenance-free miles 500,000 kilometers.
In recent years the demand for mail and luggage transportations by rail in Russia has significantly increased. At present RZD’s postal-baggage cars run at more than 130 routes.
