Final decision on China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan railway
Published: Wed, 2013-09-18 15:54Presidents of China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan plan to take final decision, regarding with building of a new railway line, which will connect the three countries and is expected to be one of the longest in Central Asia.
The implementation of the project will be beneficial for all the three countries. In case of China, the country wil get an access to Uzbekistan as well as the Caspian Sea and Iran.
This will also help China to start more active exports of its energy resources to Central Asian states.
Financial details of the project are not disclosed, but, according to previous reports, the majority of funds in the project may be invested by China, which in respect may gain a control over the Kyrgyz resources and in particular its of silver, aluminum, copper and coal fields.
The new rail line will probably have the width of the track of 1435 mm, which will be similar to the EU standards, but contrary to Russian, which may negatively affect safety aspects of the project.
