Murcia tram line to be extended
Published: Tue, 2015-01-13 11:00In Murcia, one of the largest local projects in Spain in recent years has been the city’s new tram service.
It runs from the center up to the university in one direction and up to two large new shopping centers, which have moved much of Murcia’s commercial activity away from small shops and businesses in the other.
The new commercial tramway service was opened at the end of May 2011 in the city of Murcia in south-eastern Spain, being operated by the Tranvía de Murcia Company formed by the companies Comsa Emte Concesiones and FCC.
Now there are plans to extend the tram south across the river to connect with the train station, and possibly even the regional hospital, and proposals from architects appear regularly in the regional press. It is still unclear how the dream of would be turned into an already-existent reality.
