UITP and UIC plan to work together
Published: Fri, 2015-01-09 09:00Recently, a meeting was held at UIC (International Union of Railways) headquarters between representatives of the UIC Commuter and Regional Train Services working group (CRTS), operating within the High Speed and Passenger Department, and the General Secretary of UITP (International Association of Public Transport). The purpose of the meeting was to establish a platform of cooperation between these two organisations within the scope of railway commuter and regional transport, given the existence of common topics in both the Commuter and Regional Train Services working group of UIC and the Regional and Suburban Rail Division of UITP.
The participants discussed potential fields of cooperation, particularly focusing on ticketing in agglomerations, timetable integration, passenger information and physical integration at stations. The dialogue will be continued at the beginning of the next year at the UITP headquarters in Brussels between representatives of the UIC Commuter and Regional Train Services working group and the UITP Regional and Suburban Train Division.
