Russia invests $1,5 billion in building rail line, bypassing Ukraine

Russian railway troops have started construction of a railway line, bypassing Ukraine, according to Dmitry Bulgakov, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Defense.
The new line will be built in the area Zhuravka (Voronezh region) - Millerovo (Rostov region) and will have the length of 18 km.
The project involved participation of more than 360 units of special military equipment and about 900 units of manpower.
According to Vadim Morozov, First Vice-President of RZD, building of railway line is an acute need, as it will ensure the «firm, confident and safety railway communmications in a southerly direction."
Building of rail line should be completed by 2017, while the volume of investments in the project is expected to reach RUB 55 billion (US$1,5 billion).
