Poland’s largest railway freight operator PKP Cargo has acquired regulatory approval for operations in Lithuania, the company announced newly in a press release. Lithuania is the eight EU country where the company is active.

Tram order to be worth $32 million

The Rail Baltica key-section is at stake now. Modernisation works were launched on Tłuszcz – Szewnica section. It is a part of the 1st stage of larger E75 Rail Baltica Warsaw – Białystok – Lithuanian border route modernization.

Joint locomotive production to be launched
Polish locomotive producer Newag Gliwice has signed a deal with Croatian manufacturer Đuro Đaković to launch joint production of four-axe electric locomotives. Newag will provide its Croatian partner with the necessary technology and know-how to make Griffin E4ACU locomotives at the production facility in Slavonski Brod, the Polish firm said in a statement.

EIB supports modernisation of Polish railways

With EUR 268m loan
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending EUR 268 million to the manager of the national railway network in Poland, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PLK), for the upgrading of 58 km of an existing electrified railway line (E30) from Katowice to Kraków.
Newag signs EMU deal with Poland’s Lower Silesia region

Polish rolling stock manufacturer Newag has signed a contract with the country’s Lower Silesia region to supply six electric multiple units (EMUs) to the regional passenger carrier Koleje Dolnośląskie. The deal is worth close to PLN 81.5 million ($27 million), the producer said in a statement.
