Bucharest metro operates with new trains from CAF
Published: Mon, 2014-07-21 13:30Romanian company Metrorex has purchased new trains from Spanish CAF. The whole deal stretched to EUR 97 million. New trains recently started to run on the existing metro lines in Bucharest, according to a statement of the company.
Trains will operate on Line 2 Pipera – Aurel Vlaicu – Aviatorilor – Victoriei 1 Square – Romana Square- Universitate – Unirii Square- Tineretului – Eroii Revolutiei – Constantin Brancoveanu – Sudului Square – Aparatorii Patriei – Dimitrie Leonida – Berceni.
Metrorex purchased a total of 16 trains from the Spanish company. The CAF train has six cars, a length of 113.6 meters, a width of 3.2 meters, and can carry a total of 1,200 passengers. Their maximum speed is 80 km per hour.
The first four trains are made in Spain, and the next 12 are built at the Grivita workshops in Bucharest.
With the new trains, the old trains on the lines 1, 2 and 3 will be detached from traffic.
