Bucharest-Constanta train trip became faster

New Interregio trains
A train trip from Romania’s capital Bucharest to the seaside resort Constanta now only takes two hours, according to a statement of the national railway company CFR. Four Interregio passenger trains, that reach the maximum speed of 160 km per hour, will cover the distance between Romanian capital and coastal resort town of Constanta in two hours.

EU approves grant for metro project in Bucharest

The European Commission has approved an investment grant worth some €409.5 million for a project to build a section of the designed Metro 5 line in Romania’s capital Bucharest. Under the plan, the section will be constructed between the stations of Eroilor and Drumul Taberei, both located in the city’s south-western part.

Bulgarian, Romanian, Hungarian railways in negotiations
Bulgarian, Romanian and Hungarian state-run railways are currently in negotiations to launch a direct train from Sofia to Budapest. Under the plan, the designed connection between Bulgaria’s and Hungary’s capital cities will run over the Danube Bridge 2.
