Expected to be one of the longest rail lines in the country
The government of Uzbekistan plans to launch a new electrified railway line Angren-Pap, which is expected to be one of the longest rail lines in the country in July 2016, according to President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
The new railway line will have the length of 129 kilometers andd will go through the Kamchik pass of the country and link the three eastern areas of the country (Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana) with the rest of Uzbekistan. The project also involves the construction of two tunnels.
Total volume of investments in the project is estimated at US$1.9 billion, the majority of which will be allocated from the own resources of Uzbekistan Railways, Uzbekistan’s national railway operator and loans from international financial banks.
The project also involves participation of China Railway Tunnel Group, that will build a railway tunnel under the Kamchik pass.
